August Dawn
The beginning of a warm, sunny August day—not a description usually heard in the Yarra Valley in late winter. At this time, it was exactly 3 degrees Celsius, with no movement in the air, as thick fog hugged the field in complete silence. As I was about to return home, wake the family, and enjoy a hot black coffee—the sun made a timely arrival. An imaginary blue sky started to reveal itself, and soon it was evident that the day was well and truly here. Gum trees in the background remained seated behind the curtain of fog, which ambled through, constantly changing the light hitting the jonquils in full flower. More August mornings like this, please.
